There is considerable interest among Communications Services Providers to move away from the silos of proprietary, vertically oriented applications services platforms toward a paradigm of virtualized network functions residing on virtual machines that operate on commodity computing and networking equipment.  The resulting architecture of virtualized platforms is known as Network Functions Virtualization (NFV). Functions covered include, but are not limited to, message routing for fixed and wireless networks, content delivery, session border control, firewalls, radio access networks, etc.

NFV as applied to Lawful Interception and Data Retention is a logical progression of AQSACOM's product development, given that AQSACOM systems have always operated on commodity computing hardware. As part of the ETSI NFV Industry Specification Group, AQSACOM will bring its expertise to the wider communications community to help ensure important aspects of network security remain in focus as NFV takes hold.
